Treasurer Smith Celebrates Disability Pride Month

July marks Disability Pride Month and State Treasurer Roby Smith is taking the opportunity to spotlight IAble, Iowa’s Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) plan while recognizing the valuable contributions of individuals with disabilities.
“People living with disabilities are a vital part of our society,” said Treasurer Smith. “Disability Pride Month is a time to honor their many unique talents, skills and contributions to our communities. If you or a loved one has a disability, IAble could be a great tool in helping achieve your best life experience. I encourage all Iowans to learn more about the plan at IAble.gov.”
Celebrated every July, Disability Pride Month marks the anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law. Signed in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush, the landmark legislation ensures equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
