The State Treasurer serves as trustee, custodian and investment administrator for two pension funds:
Judicial Retirement System
The Judicial Retirement System provides pensions for Supreme Court Justices, Court of Appeals Judges, District Court Judges, District Associate Judges, Associate Probate Judges and Associate Juvenile Judges. The State Treasurer's Office is responsible for the investment of the funds.
Peace Officers' Retirement, Accident and Disability System
The Peace Officers' Retirement, Accident and Disability System (PORS) provides pensions for peace officers within the Iowa Department of Public Safety including members of the Iowa State Patrol Division, the Division of Criminal Investigation, the Division of Narcotics Enforcement, the Division of Intelligence and Fusion Center and the State Fire Marshal Division. The System is governed by a five-member board of trustees established in Iowa Code section 97A.5 (PDF) and includes the Treasurer of State.
