Does Your Dad Have Unclaimed Money?
Issued June 2025
I love this time of year. Why? Because I’m a baseball fan – St. Louis Cardinals, to be exact. If you’re a dedicated fan of any sports team, you can probably relate to the emotional rollercoaster of being said fan; celebrating their wins, but continuing your support through the trials.
The same could be said about many aspects of life – from raising children to starting or expanding a small business. In this newsletter, we talk about each of these, and more. Batter up!

This quarter's newsletter also includes myths and facts of saving with ISave 529 and information about the latest IAble webinar.

Financial Literacy is More Than Just Dollars and Cents
Issued March 2024
A favorite adage of Benjamin Franklin’s, “A penny saved is a penny earned,” reminds us of the importance of saving, suggesting that saving even a little, can benefit us in the future. As we head into Financial Literacy month and ABLE to Save month, there’s so much to learn about saving and spending our pennies wisely.
The Most Wonderful Time of the Year
Issued December 2023
It’s a tale as old as time – the days go by slow, but the years go by fast. As Treasurer Smith thinks about wrapping up his first year as Iowa’s State Treasurer, he can attest to its truth. This year has been full of moments the Treasurer won’t forget – reuniting an Iowan with $4.5 million, providing eight families (with two more coming up) a boost to their education savings through College Savings Iowa giveaways, announcing IAble reached $20 million in assets, meeting many of you at the Iowa State Fair… the list continues.
He cannot wait to see what we accomplish in 2024, and he is thankful to have you along this journey.
