Treasurer Fitzgerald Helps Iowans Achieve Financial Wellness

March 31, 2022

Des Moines, Iowa – April is Financial Literacy Month and State Treasurer Michael L. Fitzgerald is empowering Iowans of all ages to be smart consumers by encouraging them to improve their financial well-being. “As State Treasurer, finances are important to me,” said Fitzgerald. “Providing Iowans with unbiased information and equipping them with sound resources to develop their financial literacy is a mission of mine. No matter what stage of life you are in, we can all benefit from advancing our financial skills.”

As part of Fitzgerald’s celebration, parents, guardians and educators are encouraged to explore the Treasurer’s Financial Bingo Boards to teach their children various financial lessons. “The bingo boards cover topics from credit cards and stocks, to budgeting and creating savings goals,” commented Fitzgerald. “Managing and understanding one’s finances as an adult starts with the financial education and empowerment of our youth.” Catered towards different age groups, the bingo boards have activities and discussions for kids and teens to help them build their financial knowledge. The boards can be found on his website at IowaTreasurer.gov/for-citizens/financial-education-and-empowerment/financial-literacy-month.

In addition to the Financial Bingo Boards, Fitzgerald is hosting a Q&A via Twitter and Facebook on Friday, April 29 to share his knowledge on finances and supply best practices. To submit a question, visit IowaTreasurer.gov/for-citizens/financial-education-and-empowerment/financial-literacy-month.
