State Treasurer Roby Smith Votes to Provide Assistance to Individuals and Families Impacted by Davenport Building Collapse

DES MOINES - State Treasurer Roby Smith voted today to provide $200,000 in assistance to those impacted by the recent Davenport building collapse. These funds will be distributed through the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program (IIAGP) and Iowa Disaster Case Management Program (IDCM). Recipients will be able to use the funds to establish a recovery plan and to repair or replace items damaged in the collapse.

“As a member of the Davenport community, I know how vital these funds are to those affected by this tragedy,” said Smith. “My family and I want to share our deepest sympathies with the families of Branden Colvin, Sr., Ryan Hitchcock and Daniel Prien, and our continued support for all those impacted as they work to recover and find a path forward.”

The IIAGP provides grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level. The grant application and instructions are available at https://hhs.iowa.gov/disaster-assistance-programs.

Through the IDCM, case managers work with clients to create a disaster recovery plan and provide guidance, advice and referrals to obtain other needed services and resources. Learn more at https://iowacommunityaction.org.

Smith is one of five members of the Executive Council of Iowa. Governor Kim Reynolds, Secretary of State Paul Pate, and Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig also voted to provide assistance to those impacted by the Davenport building collapse, and to residents of counties (including Scott County) who have been impacted by recent flooding and severe weather.
