The Robert D. Blue Scholarship was established by the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation to encourage the youth of Iowa to attend one of Iowa’s institutions of higher learning. Since its creation in 1949 by Governor Robert D. Blue, the scholarship fund has helped hundreds of Iowa students attend colleges and universities across the state. The Foundation hopes to continue to encourage the educational development of Iowa’s students and their participation in public service fields as a benefit to all Iowans.
With the rising cost of tuition, the Foundation’s goal is to provide financial assistance to Iowa students who deserve to be recognized. The scholarship is awarded annually and is open to any Iowa students wishing to attend a college or university in Iowa. Applicants are evaluated on financial need, an original 500-word essay, academic performance and letters of recommendation.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the scholarship has been suspended and the Iowa Centennial Memorial Foundation will not be awarding scholarships for the 2020-2021 school year.
