For several years, the state treasurer’s office has partnered with The Center for Student Credit Card Education to promote the ABCs of Credit Card Finance, a program designed to help high school students learn how to responsibly use a credit card. By learning about credit through a structured curriculum, students don’t have to resort to trial-and-error learning on such an important topic.
The program is offered in two formats. The original format includes a student primer, trainer’s guide and a PowerPoint presentation that are all available for teachers to download. The program has also been converted to one that is animated and interactive and can be taken independently by students online. Both are completely free and available to educators and students at www.theabcsofcredit.com.
Treasurer Fitzgerald encourages Iowa students and teachers to take advantage of this program to assist in improving Iowa’s financial literacy.
