College Savings Iowa is celebrating 20 years of helping families and friends save for higher education. Launched in September of 1998 by State of Iowa Treasurer Michael L. Fitzgerald, College Savings Iowa has been celebrating our 20–year milestone through September and October. Over the last 20 years, the program has grown to $5 billion in assets, over 251,000 accounts and an average account size of $20,000. As the assets invested with College Savings Iowa have grown, fees have been reduced seven times and are at an all-time low of 0.20%.
We’re very proud to have helped so many families through the past two decades save and achieve their higher education goals for their children, grandchildren and even themselves. And, while our past 20 years have been great to celebrate, we’re even more excited about our next 20 years as we get even more friends and families involved in saving for a brighter future.
